The Phlebotomy course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely collect blood specimens for laboratory testing, transfusions, donations, and research purposes. This course covers the principles of venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques, infection prevention and control, patient care and communication, specimen handling and processing, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology related to the circulatory system, and professional ethics in healthcare settings. Students will receive both theoretical instruction and hands-on practical training to develop competence in blood collection procedures while maintaining patient safety and comfort. The course also emphasizes proper use of equipment, labeling procedures, quality assurance, and compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Upon successful completion, students will be prepared for entry-level employment in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, blood banks, and other healthcare facilities as a phlebotomy technician.
